Privacy, in plain English.

This page covers the Pitchbox waitlist at pitchbox.live. Pitchbox is run by Sam (“we”), the data controller under UK GDPR. Questions or requests: hello@pitchbox.live.

What we collect

• Your email address, to confirm your spot and tell you about the launch.
• Anything you choose to add: your name or handle, whether you’ll pitch or watch, your project’s name and URL, and a preferred launch-week slot.
• Referral data: who referred you (if anyone) and who joined with your link.
• Technical bits: your time zone (to show slot times), a one-way hash of your IP address (to stop spam and abuse), and timestamps of when you signed up, confirmed and gave consent.

Why, and on what basis

We rely on your consent, given when you join and confirmed when you click the link in our email. You can withdraw it at any time. We use the hashed IP for our legitimate interest in keeping the waitlist free of bots.

Emails

You’ll get a confirmation email, a welcome email, a note when a referral moves you up, and launch news. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share your email.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Plausible or Umami) to count visits and sign-ups. They don’t use cookies, don’t track you across sites and don’t collect personal data. This site sets no tracking cookies. One local-storage entry remembers your light/dark choice and one remembers a referral link you arrived from.

Who processes it for us

• Our hosting provider (servers in the EU), which stores the database.
• Our email provider (e.g. Resend), which sends our emails.
• Our analytics provider (Plausible or Umami), which receives no personal data.

Where a provider is outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Until Pitchbox launches and for up to 12 months after, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@pitchbox.live from the address you signed up with and we’ll do it within a month (usually the same day). If you’re unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
